PS: OVER A MILLION READERS LOVE CECELIA!

CECELIA AHERN BECOMES THE YOUNGEST RECIPIENT OF A NIELSEN BOOK PLATINUM AWARD FOR HER BOOK: PS: I LOVE YOU

Today (Tuesday 22 September) Cecelia Ahern receives a Platinum Award for achieving over a million sales in the UK for her first novel, PS: I Love You and a Gold Award for 500,000 copies sold of her second novel, Where Rainbows End from HarperCollins CEO Victoria Barnsley. In doing so she joins an elite band of authors achieving this level of sales and follows J K Rowling and Dan Brown in receiving awards for the first and second books simultaneously.

Cecelia Ahern is the youngest recipient of the Nielsen Platinum Award (set up in 2000 with eighteen previous recipients including Jeremy Clarkson, Kate Mosse, John Grisham, Victoria Hislop and Alexander McCall Smith). Cecelia was only twenty-one, when she wrote PS, I Love You, which was sold to over forty countries. PS, I Love You was one of the biggest-selling debut novels of recent years, reaching number 1 in Ireland and in the UK Sunday Times bestseller list and was selected for the Richard and Judy Summer Read campaign. The film of the same title was optioned by Warner Bros and Wendy Finerman Productions and was a major Hollywood hit movie in December 2007 starring Hilary Swank, Lisa Kudrow, Kathy Bates, and Gerard Butler.

Where Rainbows End, published in November 2004, (Love, Rosie in US) also reached no.1 in Ireland and the UK, remaining at the top of the Irish bestsellers list for 12 weeks and again becoming a bestseller internationally. The Gold Award recognises sales of over 500,000 through the UK TCM.

Cecelia has published six novels to date and HarperCollins has sold over six million copies of her books throughout their territories since 2004.
Cecelia is also published by HarperCollins in the US.

Next week (1 October) sees the publication of Cecelia’s 7th novel, The Book of Tomorrow, which is being supported by a huge and innovative marketing and PR campaign including eye-catching illuminated bus-sides across London, Manchester and Dublin, and national press advertising. In addition HarperCollins and Skype have teamed up to bring Cecelia fans around the globe a ‘world-first' virtual tour.
