Due to the evolution of the digital era, we now live in a world where everything we could every want or need is available at our finger tips. The act of enjoying reading and following a particular author’s work used to be relatively easy and straightforward. While still both of those things, the digital era has brought the experience of reading to a whole new level.
We can now access the latest news from our favourite authors straight from their social media platforms, we know what they’re doing and when they’re doing it, we know well in advance when a new book will be released and we have a constant, up to date cycle of book recommendations online. We have video games bringing favourite characters to life outside of movie adaptations and the pages they were born on. We have online quizzes to determine which of your favourite characters you’re most like. You name it, the world of digital media will find a way to bring it to you.

Unlike the first two book blogs, Amazon’s official book blog is much more focused on life in the publishing world. So if book reviews, interviews with authors and general industry news are what you're after, this is a blog you’ll want to keep a close eye on. Best of all, their reviews aren’t limited to a specific genre and posts are focused on everything from kids’ book and comics to thrillers and academic books along with every other genre you can think of. AND if you check back frequently enough, you’ll be the first to know about their new stock and releases in the book department.
Sticking with a similar approach to that of Omnivoracious mentioned above, The New Yorker’s book blog focuses on “criticisms, contentions and conversation inspired by books and the writing life” as they state very clearly on their blog home page. Titled Page-Turner, this is a blog that does just that - or at least the digital version. A combination of carefully selected book round ups alongside more in depth looks at topics surrounding writers’ culture and inspirations, thought-provoking and inspiring, this blog will open your eyes to a whole new world hidden within the publishing industry.
Founded in 2003, there is definitely something within the extensive archive of The Millions that will grab your attention. Backed by The New York Times as “the indispensable literary site” the intelligent and inspiring articles published on this blog make it a massive contender as top book review blog to be found on the worldwide web.
