Karen Kosztolnyik, VP, Editor-in-Chief at Grand Central Publishing has acquired US rights to two new books by New York Times bestselling author Cecelia Ahern. Theresa Park of Park Literary & Media brokered the deal.
The first book, ROAR, a collection of 30 insightful, moving and humorous short stories, will be published in the Spring of 2019. Each story in this multifaceted collection features a woman exploring a different contradiction or issue in her life – a sometimes comic, always moving look at the guilt, joys, humiliation and triumphs that define the modern woman’s experience, including the private moments when she feels the need to roar.
Cecelia Ahern is one of the biggest selling authors to emerge in the past fifteen years. She is published around the world in nearly forty countries, in over thirty languages and has sold over twenty-five million copies of her novels. Two of her books have been adapted as films and Ahern has created several television series.
TV and film rights are represented by Howie Sanders at Anonymous Content. UK and Commonwealth rights, including Canada, were sold to Lynne Drew, Publishing Director of HarperFiction at HarperCollinsUK by Marianne Gunn O’Connor.
Karen Kosztolnyik says: “I have been a long-time fan of Cecelia Ahern, ever since I devoured PS, I LOVE YOU. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to finally work with her. Cecelia’s brilliance and passion are on perfect display with this profound collection of stories that so many women will identify with.”
Cecelia Ahern says: ‘With thirty women and thirty stories, ROAR holds a fun mirror up to reality, to the moments when we’re overwhelmed by guilt, confusion, frustration, intimidation, nostalgia, invisibility, and the private moments when we feel the need to roar. Five years in the making, I’m excited to share my passion project with readers, old and new.’
